A charming young man Johnny played by Sushant Singh, in the apartment next door brings them cheer and optimism despite the struggles of life. Like most migrants in Mumbai, they are ambitious about making a lot of money and getting a better life. In a strange twist of events, the two women stumble upon a robbery. They  decide to blackmail the crooks into sharing the loot with them, little realizing that their mischief is going to trigger a chain of unpredictable events involving a bunch of crazy characters.

Soon these girls face unpleasant secrets and inescapable danger. Now, they have no choice but to plan a revenge as well as get their “Paisa Vasool”!

Within a short time of living in America, Karan realizes that his imagination of the American dream has been undermined by reality, the reality of struggle in the urban ghetto. After 9/11, Karan's turban, attire and language become a problem for him in school. He is forced into violent confrontations, due to which Karan gets suspended.

One day, Karan's dad goes to work on his taxi shift, but he does not return. Slowly and steadily Mansi unveils the whole mystery step by step with the help of an astute Police Inspector, only to find that at the core of it all, lies a social stigma, the very assignment she had come for.

Among the female leads, the film stars Rani Mukherjee, Esha Deol and Kareena Kapoor paired opposite Abhishek Bachchan, Ajay Devgan and Vivek Oberoi respectively. Sonu Sood, who won critical acclaim for his performance as Shaheed Bhagat Singh, is playing the main negative lead in the film. Ratnam's favorite A.R.Rehman has composed the music of the film while Mehboob has written the lyrics.
